Belinda Alexander

I found it a great way to understand the process of writing a screenplay quickly and efficiently. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned writer you will find value in this course. Highly recommended.

Carol Williamson

This course is groundbreaking because it gets you writing. The Masterclasses are about distilling down and understanding script writing theory, but by the end it helps change the way your brain works.

Karel Segers’ Masterclass program is an exhilarating experience. I have done the Immersion course 3 times now… It helps unleash my creativity, motivate and discipline my practice of writing, and build my skills and confidence as a writer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are these masterclasses about?

They run for an hour, with about 30-45min dedicated to a mini-lecture on a  screenwriting topic. They are conducted ‘live’, like a webinar, with a limited number of students in the classroom, who can ask questions during the session.

What technology is used for the masterclasses?

We connect via Zoom, which is really easy to use. You can come in straight from your browser, or (better) you can install the free Zoom app on your computer or mobile phone. A private backup stream is available via YouTube or Facebook.

Is any prior knowledge required?

Like the Immersion Screenwriting course, everything taught here is basic screenwriting knowledge. This being said, many writers with experience have found that the masterclasses brought a new perspective on many topics.

Do I need to pay this fee if I’m enrolled in Immersion?

Immersion includes the masterclasses for enrolments after 1 July 2020. Students have access to 7 weeks of classes as part of their enrolment. Inquire before you enrol to see if any places are free in the upcoming group.

WHEN are the masterclasses being held?

Masterclasses are held live on Friday 4pm PST (Los Angeles) and another session on Friday at 4pm AEST (Sydney). Once you have enrolled, you can switch or change as many times as you like. You can even attend both!

(*) What is ‘active participation’?

Only students enrolled for 7 weeks or more are invited to the live Zoom sessions. Students purchasing 1 month may attend if any places are free, or watch the live YouTube stream. Questions may not be answered during the same session.

What if I miss a session?

Students who have paid for the masterclasses will have access to all recordings for the duration of their subscription. This includes all new sessions during their subscription, as well as previous masterclasses.

How many different masterclasses are there?

Karel Segers has prepared masterclasses around 50 different topics, ranging from writing loglines and synopses, to broader subjects such as Hero’s Journey, high concept, writing description, TV characters, Point of View, Mid Point Reversal etc.
